Two Perspectives on Books
Friday, October 28, 6:30 pm
D-L Alvarez and Colter Jacobsen
For Scanners, Alvarez will be talking from a personal perspective about books—their shape, formats, and functions—in contemporary sculpture.
Colter will discuss recent book projects and Publication Studio Berkeley.
D-L ALVAREZ is a visual artist and writer. His work will soon be going up in two SFMOMA exhibitions: The Air We Breathe opening November 4th and Fifty Years of Bay Area Art: The SECA Awards opening December 8th. Presently he is working with the author Kevin Killian towards a video project that will premiere in 2012.
COLTER JACOBSEN is an artist alive in San Francisco. He is working on a Noh play/opera with his band, Coconut. He sometimes makes books as the robot Publication Studio Berkeley (see publicationstudio.biz). He, like Darrell, is participating in two upcoming shows at SFMOMA: The Air We Breathe and the SECA show.
